Family Life

The BCT is a hub of social activities for children and parents alike.

Social life and networking are the heart of the BCT’s mission, and we have created an array of opportunities for our members to link up with other families.

LET YOUR KIDS FIND FRIENDS & HAVE FUN.

Babies, toddlers, young children and slightly older ones – right up to university age - parents and parents-to-be, each of our members can find an interesting, helpful or a fun activity to suit their needs, whether through playgroups, special interest or local groups in the neighbourhood or at annual BCT parties and events. Join us and meet others!

All of these activities are initiated and run by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers. The range of groups reflects the current interests of our membership and thus they may vary over time.

Our app on Twizzit (or webpage for those that prefer to use a laptop/desktop) holds, amongst others, the full BCT calendar with all our activities and events. Members can check in every day to see what is currently happening or has been planned for the near future. Access and a personal profile to our app are one of the many benefits of a membership.

We encourage our members to get involved in the planning and organisation of our family life activities. If you wish to run a BCT group or organise an event, please let us know at volunteering@bctbelgium.org.

Your feedback is important - let us know what you think of our groups and events, or pass on your suggestions by contacting us at groups@bctbelgium.org.

“Thank you everyone for your kindness, patience and support. The BCT was there for me from almost my first day of my arrival here in Belgium with a young baby 6 years ago right up till my last days now. BCT friends, I think I'm going to miss you most of all.”

BCT Playgroups

PLAYGROUPS

Our Clubhouse in Ixelles hosts a range of playgroups featuring crafts, music, soft play equipment, books and toys for in- and outdoor play. Each playgroup has its own theme and some are designed for a specific age group, up to toddlers of 5 years of age. The Clubhouse is designed for families and is a safe environment for babies and young kids to interact.

BCT Local Groups

LOCAL GROUPS

Our local groups help you to meet other families living nearby. We meet in parks, cafés or members’ houses in and around Brussels. Our local groups organise activities such as coffee mornings, parent-and-baby meet-ups, outdoor play dates, music and baby swimming sessions, family brunches and nights out for mums or dads.

BCT Interest groups

INTEREST GROUPS

These groups bring together BCT members who share a lifestyle, hobby, interest or even language. Some groups bring members together in cultural or sports activities, while others incorporate the whole family in their activities. Our “Lifers” group focuses on life in Belgium and has become an excellent resource and popular forum for families that have settled here long-term or even for good.
BCT Support groups

SOCIAL AND SUPPORT GROUPS

These groups provide a forum for members of all walks of life who want to share and discuss their experiences with others in similar situations. They meet regularly, often with the whole family, enjoying supportive company and having fun.
BCT Events

EVENTS

Our annual events are for all of our member families to meet others and have fun together. Whether it is the Halloween Party or the Family Disco, whether you participate as a guest or as a volunteer, these are wonderful occasions to meet new people and make friends, to network and have fun with other English-speaking families.

BCT Nearly New Sale

NEARLY NEW SALE

Twice a year we hold the very successful Nearly New Sales where you can buy or sell pretty much anything to do with babies and children – including clothes, equipment, furniture, toys and books – at giveaway prices. Our Nearly New Sales are open to everyone, members and non-members alike.

"I am a regular seller at the NNS, my son loves the Christmas Funday and the disco is also something we won’t miss. The Lifers Group is my top resource when it comes to sound advice on topics that are beyond the odd Facebook post."
