BCT Local Groups

Local Groups

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES CLOSER TO HOME: NETWORK. SUPPORT. FRIENDSHIP.

Our local groups are a great way of getting to know other parents and children in your area. They usually meet at members’ homes, in parks, cafés or community centres. You can chat to other parents, exchange information and share experiences over a cup of coffee while your children are playing together. They are not only friendly neighbourhood communities and fun occasions to meet other families with babies and young children but also amazing resources on all aspects of family life in your local area. Join us and meet others!

Our app/webpage on Twizzit holds the full BCT agenda including the vast majority of our local group activities. This is where members can see the details and how to sign up their attendance which is generally free unless the chosen activity requests a, usually small, fee.

All of our current local groups reflect the interests and availability of our member volunteers. We are always happy to support new initiatives – if you would like to set something up in your area, please contact the BCT Groups Coordinator at groups@bctbelgium.org.

“The BCT has provided me with friendship with likeminded English-speaking individuals whom over the years have become my best friends. We met at local playgroups while our kids were babies and as they grew and went to school, the friendship between the moms have gotten even stronger. While the kids are in school, we meet for coffee and chat about all aspects of our lives. The BCT and my contacts via the organization have saved my sanity in Belgium.”

Who?

Any BCT member is welcome to attend any group anywhere, whether or not they live in that particular area.

Members can subscribe to a group via the BCT app or contact the group organiser (find contact details in the BCT app on Twizzit) in your local area.

For?

If you want your children to make friends in your neighbourhood, if you want to chat to other parents, exchange information and advice over a cup of coffee in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere while your children are playing together - join our network of local groups.

Where?

Our local BCT groups in Brussels and beyond offer a range of weekly social activities either in members' houses or outdoors.

What?

Mums or dads from the local group volunteer to host coffee mornings or play afternoons. Some groups meet outdoors, in parks, museums or on playgrounds.

Some groups extend their activities to include older children, or organise other activities, such as family brunches or parents’ nights out.

How?

These groups are coordinated by one or more group organisers. Each group arranges its own activities.

Most group organisers keep in contact with members via our app on Twizzit, email, or WhatsApp alerting them to upcoming group activities and providing them with information on BCT events and services.

When?

Groups meet once or several times per week for various activities, depending on the activity level and season (e.g. holiday period) and member availability.

"I attended a trial playgroup in my local area and the warmth & friendliness of the woman there compelled me to join the BCT immediately. I attended my first ladies night out 2 weeks after the birth of my son and it was my first outing without my husband & kids after living in Belgium for 6 years ."
