Supporting the BCT while … online shopping? Yes, with Trooper!

26 November 2024

The BCT is run entirely by volunteers and the day-to-day running costs are funded solely by membership fees and the income from our Nearly New Sales (so not at all during COVID). To meet the ever-rising costs, we have tried to find simple ways to bring in extra income to cover the costs of BCT events, Clubhouse supplies and upgrades.

What we found is Troopers.be. It costs you absolutely nothing but it will allow the BCT to earn small amounts that will hopefully add up and help us out. As the saying goes…. ‘Every little helps!’

Do you ever order things online? Clothes, electronics, food? Or book your holidays, flights and event tickets? You can now do these things AND support the BCT financially at the same time.

But how is that even possible?

The BCT is now part of Trooper.be: www.trooper.be/brusselschildbirthtrust. Any time you do your online shopping using this link, the BCT will get a small percentage of your purchase. While you don’t pay a single cent more!

But is my online shop on their list?

Well, that’s easy to find out. At the moment, Trooper has more than 1,000 partner shops, from different categories.

You need something for the day-to-day family life? Try Delhaize, Bol.com, DreamLand, HEMA, La Redoute, A.S. Adventure or Coolblue

Or are you planning your next day trip or vacation? Think of the BCT when you book! Use Booking.com, Brussels Airlines, Center Parcs, Plopsaland, Bellewaerde or Walibi

Whether you are booking your holiday, buying books or groceries,
you can help the BCT out while you’re doing it.

So, how exactly does it work?

Step 1: Go to https://www.trooper.be/brusselschildbirthtrust
(You can currently choose the NL and FR versions. No English available yet. But everything is quite straightforward.)

Step 2: Find the online store where you want to shop, either by using the search field or by having all available shops displayed with the category drop-down.

Step 3: Add your name and email address if you want to know how much money you have contributed for your association. (You will be notified by email within 48 hours.)

Step 4: Shop and pay as you usually do. The BCT will automatically receive the funds.

Each partner shop contributes a different commission, so contributions will vary. But even if the amounts sound small, they will accumulate!
Trooper does keep the first 75€ as admin fees but afterwards we will not need to pay any further fees to them and all money will go directly to the BCT.

But what if I forget?

You can now download the Botty extension, which will remind you to make your purchases via Trooper.
Trooper extension Botty

1. Download the Botty Chrome extension for free via www.trooper.be/botty. It’s really easy and takes no time at all.

2. Select the Brussels Childbirth Trust, so Trooper and the online shops will know that you want to support us.

3. Once you go to an online shop that is supported by Trooper, Botty will ask you if you want to use Trooper. Just click and go!

4. You won’t forget to troop and the BCT will get the commission. You’ll always receive a confirmation e-mail showing the amount of commission paid to the BCT thanks to your purchase.

So how about supporting the BCT while … online shopping? And remember: Every little helps!
