Thank you for your interest in finding out more about volunteering with the BCT. You might or might not know but the BCT is run ENTIRELY by Volunteers!
Although in some cases we do accept volunteers who are not BCT members we do give preference to members and prefer to fill our volunteer roles from within our membership.
On this page you will find a brief description of the roles we are currently seeking volunteers to help with. As you will see we have many opportunities this month. There is always a yearly cycle as many volunteers need to step down after the summer holidays due to relocation or a change in their family routine (returning to work or their child starts school). Of course others may find they have more free time to volunteer and many members combine work and volunteering at the same time
If something sparks an interest please feel free to get in contact for more details and a more detailed role description.
The time commitment needed for a Volunteer role varies. You can volunteer for a ‘one off’ hour at one of our events such as our Halloween Party of forthcoming Nearly New Sale and Funday or an hour a week helping with one of our playgroups stretching to several hours a week in one of our coordinating or administration roles. We can usually find something to fit into everyone’s time schedule and skill set.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and please remember just by getting in touch and asking more questions does not mean you are committing yourself to anything. Please feel free also to contact us if you have something to offer that is not on this list. An idea for something new perhaps?
It cannot be stressed enough that without our volunteers the BCT simply could not exist!
Kind regards, Shelley

Our Early Days Support team (EDS) provides an invaluable source of support to new parents. This is a rewarding role in which volunteers have the chance to help new parents through the first weeks of their babies’ lives. Volunteers also help new parents to connect with other English speaking families in their neighbourhood making it easier to get out and not feel isolated.
We are not counsellors - simply fellow parents living in Belgium who may have experienced similar feelings and lived similar situations. Only your parenting experience is required, as 'listening skills' training is provided, along with plenty of support from other team members. Most EDS volunteers support about two prenatal groups per year, by phone and email, with a maximum time commitment of approximately 4 hours per group, spread over several weeks.
If you are interested to learn more please get in contact.
Our Annual Crafts for Christmas Funday is scheduled for Sunday 18 November at Imagine, Wezembeek-Oppem. As usual it will be a fun filled afternoon of crafts projects for children to enjoy and refreshments and cakes for the parents.
If you are able to help out at a craft table ( no experience is needed!) or bake some cakes, biscuits for our refreshment stall then we would love to hear from you!
Do you have experience with book keeping and are comfortable working with Excel? The BCT is looking for additional help for our Treasury Team to process payments from our Prenatal and Pregnancy in Belgium (PIB) classes. Full training will be given and this role can be done from the comfort of your own home with email and telephone contact with the Board Treasurer and prenatal team with occasional team meetings organised at convenient times.
Our experienced Prenatal Team loves to welcome new parents- to -be to its courses and in order to maintain the best possible level of service we are looking for an additional volunteer to assist with administration tasks, especially when some team members take holidays or have additional work commitments.
Tasks can all be done from the comfort of your own home and training will be given. This is a role that is best done on a regular basis, 20 minutes for instance each day rather than one big session at the end of a week. If you are interested to find out more please get in touch.
Due to one of the team members relocating our Membership Team is looking for some additional help with the processing of new memberships and the renewal of existing memberships. All the work can be done from the comfort of your own home with team meetings held periodically at convenient time for all team members.
Our Small Talk team is looking for a volunteer to coordinate all Display Ads within the magazine, liaise with our regular advertisers and expand our portfolio if possible. If this is something that interests you then please get in touch for further details. Training will be given and you are not expected to chase up invoices as this is handled by our Communications Treasurer.
The BCT AGM in on Monday, 11 March 2019. This may seem a long way off at the moment but time will fly by very quickly after the holiday celebrations. This is why we are beginning to think about the BCT Board for the year 2019 and most importantly beginning to search for a volunteer to become our next Vice President.
As Vice President would join the Executive Board (President, Past President & Treasurer) and work carefully with the Presidential team, learning the role with the view of becoming President in March 2020.
If you are interested to learn more about the role please do not hesitate to get in contact.
After the summer holidays several of our Group Organisers have stepped down from their roles as their own children have started school or they have relocated from Belgium. We are therefore looking for some new volunteers to carry on their great work and help out with the following groups.
No special skills are needed to be a Group-Organiser, just a friendly face and the willingness to be there on a regular basis. However this need not mean every week as several Co-Organsiers can share the Group or it can run every other week or even monthly. Korrine, our Groups Coordinator, would love to hear from you and is happy to explain further what being a Group Organiser/Co-organiser actually involves. Contact her at email@example.com.Ideas for a new group? If you have ideas for a new group at Imagine or Holy Trinity there are morning and afternoon slots free so please also get in touch. Groups do not always have to have a craft or music theme. In the past general ‘free play’ giving parents time to chat over a coffee have also been just as successful!
The BCT is always on the look out for new Group Organisers and Co-Organisers. If you have some time to help out one morning or afternoon with an Imagine Group, our Groups Coordinator Korrine would love to receive your email and kind offer to help out! Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
